Riley + Evan: A Wedding Story

Riley,

From the first day I met you, I knew that I found something special. Leading up to this day there have been many miles traveled with you going to school and me driving to see you every weekend. We have made it here now, which I am thankful for. I know you hear this so much but I am so in love with you. From the way you laugh to that look you give me when you are mad at me, and for how natural it is for you to be an amazing mom. Before I met you, I didn’t know what my true purpose was. Everything with you came so naturally. Now I know exactly where I need to be, which is right here, right now with you. Because of you, I’m a better man, and because of you, I will continue to be the best I can for you, my wife. All the memories we have made already have been exciting. I look forward to all the memories that have yet to come.

I promise to cherish and honor you all the days of my life. I promise to never stop making you laugh because you have such a beautiful smile that I am so grateful to see for the rest of my life, especially curled up on the bed with takeout, which happens to be your favorite thing to do. When you dropped everything and took Lev in as your own, I Saw you for the amazing person you are. I know I speak for everyone when I say that you were born to be a mother. The love that you show her is pure, and I owe you the world for what you have already done. I know our love will flourish, and I vow to show you love support, respect, faithfulness, and kindness. My devotion and passion for you is never-ending Riley. I look forward to the family and the joy we build as we embark on a long journey again.

I know that God created you specifically for me and has been preparing us for this day to be husband and wife. The love that you show me is pure and unconditional. You have brought me so much joy and I cannot be more proud to be called your wife today. I vow to stand with you when the struggle of life weighs you down and celebrate with you when life brings us so much joy. I vow to be your strength and comfort through whatever life throws at us. Today we get to celebrate our love with our closest friends and family, but I can’t help but look back on our first year of marriage together. We truly became a family of three and even though it may look different than others, it was ours - our happily ever after.

Sometimes I have to pinch myself to make sure I’m not dreaming. Other times you literally drove me so crazy that I wish I was dreaming. You make me laugh harder than anyone ever has and whether I’m laughing with you or at you the memories we make together have become my most treasured. I love you so much today, and I know I will love you more tomorrow, and the next day, and the day after that until forever. You’re my favorite person and I’m so glad we get to spend forever together.

My sweet girl. Today isn’t just about Daddy and I, but also promising my love to you. I may not have given you the gift of life, but life has truly given me the gift of you. I promise to never let you down, to show up no matter what, and lastly, I promise to never miss another milestone of your life.

Everyone says I walked into your life at the perfect time when you needed someone, but they don’t see is how God brought you to me at the most unexpected time in my life. A time I realize now, I needed you the most. You are my greatest gift, biggest blessing, and you have my entire heart. Thank you so much for choosing me to be your Mama. I cannot think of anything more special. I love you.
